“The gate was open and they came to the garden just as the sun was rising. The olive trees sparkled in the silver light and the garden was fresh and lovely. There was the scent of flowers in the birds were singing. But they stopped, and looked at each other in sudden dismay as always happens when one is utterly worn out they had remembered everything except what mattered most… That great stone rolled across the opening of the tomb - who was going to move it for them? How are they going to get in? Then one of them remember the soldiers whom they had heard or keeping guard over the tomb… but when they reach the tomb the soldiers had gone. There was no one there-only the birds bursting their throats with joy. But the stone was rolled away!”

Happy Easter!
“Death has been swallowed up in victory.” 1 Cor 15:54
Let us take hold of hope today and hear the great “Fear not ye” that so captivated Goudge:
“The freshness and the light came from two figures who sat one at the head and one at the foot where the body of Jesus had lain, keeping their guard over that bit of holy stone. And there in the midst of the light they saw smiling eyes that looked at them and lips that curved with tenderness. But they fell on their knees and hid their eyes in terror, for the smiling faces were not of this world and they could not endure to look upon their light.
"Fear not ye."
The fear died in them, for they knew that God loved them.
There was nothing to be feared anywhere, in heaven or on earth or in hell, for God was alive and God loved them. But they could not look again on those smiling faces, and it was with covered eyes that they heard a voice speaking, a heavenly voice weaving in and out of the song of the birds.”

“It is all joy now, the greatest joy that this earth has ever known… Even now she shares it, in each new spring with its bird song and budding leaves… shares it in all the springtimes that will ever be, because with God there is no time but only the eternal now of everlasting joy.”
