“In a world where thrushes sing and willow trees are golden in the spring, boredom should have been included among the seven deadly sins.”
🌿 Elizabeth Goudge, The Rosemary Tree
Join us!
I hope you are planning on joining us for a perfect Goudge novel for springtime—The Rosemary Tree. It was Goudge’s love letter to Devon, being published just after she had moved away from Devon to Rose Cottage in Oxfordshire. She would write one more children’s book set in Devon, Linnets & Valerians, but it is in The Rosemary Tree that we get to enjoy the beauty of the countryside. It is a beautiful story of spiritual renewal and freedom. Hope you can join us!

It will be a first reading for me. I've been thinking to myself lately that I don't think I'll ever be able to read anything but Elizabeth Goudge before bed from now on. Nothing compares to reading her words right before going to sleep.
This is probably my favorite contemporary Goudge novel. Looking forward to reading it again.
