Announcing Goudge Readalong 2024 🎉 🎉 🎉
We have been doing readalongs on Instagram since 2019, so 2024 will be our sixth year! It’s been a delight to have some of you along for some joyous Goudge readings through the past five years.
Since we added many new Goudge readers in 2023 through the new venues here on Substack (!) and FB, I’ve decided to go for it this year and do a book each month next year! I have been chatting with readers here, and these titles definitely rose to the top of the list. As of 2023 we completed all of Goudge’s main adult and children’s titles, so we will be repeating many of her best loved titles this year! ❤️📖✨
So without further ado…
January: The Heart of the Family
February: Towers in the Mist
March: God So Loved the World
April: The Rosemary Tree
May: The Scent of Water
June: The Little White Horse
July: Linnets & Valerians
August: Island Magic
September: Green Dolphin Street (also title Green Dolphin Country)
October: The White Witch
November: A City of Bells
December: Sister of the Angels
Wide range of genre
As is typical of Goudge, we will have a wide range of genre to pick from this year.
Eight adult novels, that are very suitable for young adults as well.
Three children’s books which would make wonderful read-aloud books that your could read over zoom or in person to the young ones in your life.
One devotional book which we will read during Lent to meditate on Jesus’ life.
Perhaps you would like to invite a friend, sister, niece or aunt to read along with us here on Substack this year?
Which Goudge are you looking forward to reading in 2024? Will it be a new book for you? Love to hear below!
*Amazon Affiliate links are included in this newsletter. I make a few cents per recommendation, each of which I hope will be helpful to you!
What a great list! I own them all thanks to some purchases last year for my Year of Goudge. I did own God So Loved The World but lost it in a house move, I don’t know how. I have time to search out a copy. I’m sorry that I’ve not been writing much in response to your recent Substack posts but I’m in full Grandma mode and have very little spare time. In a week I will be able to concentrate and read again. However, I’m enjoying delightful picture books. Happy New Year!
I don’t really know where to put this comment but I’m super excited! This morning my granddaughter and I went to a charity shop. I was introduced to the novels of O. Douglas, the pen name of Anna Buchan. She was John Buchan’s sister. Beautiful, evocative writing set in Scotland. Lovely characters and as you would expect, lots of literary references. I found a 1947 vintage edition of Penny Plain for $3AUS!!! Plus some other gems for me. I love the joy when this occurs. I had to share with my Bookclub friends.
