I have to say that these photos are what I’ve envisioned when reading Green Dolphin Street. A testimony to EG’s magnificent writing ability. I am looking forward to joining you in reading this favorite.
These are beautiful, Julie! Thank you for giving me photos of the places that Goudge describes so vividly and with such beauty. It’s amazing to me that Guernsey looks every bit as beautiful as she described!
The photos of the various paths appeal to me the most as I am a walker and a hiker. I think they are a combination of both photographers. I saw the first pink blossom tree today and all the birds in our area seemed to be twittering and chirping at once, so the promise of spring is definite. The quote by Elizabeth about winter and the weariness resonated with me because of my experience of the opposite this morning.
I really love all the pictures! I'm particularly drawn to the picture of the colorful flags with the foggy background. I agree with Jeanne about the quotes you choose and the reading of them out of context being a gift.
Oh, my. Such profound loveliness it makes me ache. I prefer Peter Tiffin's photography to the tourist photos, myself. And almost all the photos you picked connect me to Island Magic, but perhaps the one that helps me the most is the one that has water lanes (this week's, not the first one you shared). In some ways these photos remind me of being at Acadia, except with much more color and drama. Thank you so very much. Oh, and I love the quotes you choose and I find that reading a fragment from Goudge is often more satisfying than reading several pages - it is easier to take in the full scope of her beautiful, poetic writing than when I am reading to take in the story. Her poetry makes me ache, too.

I’m so glad they are helpful! Goudge does an amazing job as you say. Glad you can join us this month!!

Excited that you are seeing a beginning to spring in Australia! Guernsey looks like a really beautiful island.

So glad they are helpful! That is one of my favorite photos of Guernsey I think. It is so atmospheric.

I definitely agree about Peter's photos! His are more intimate in a way, and less glossy. But it is a stunning place no matter how you look at it.
I agree - her beautiful prose gets lost in the reading sometimes so it is good to have it out of context :) a funny compliment in deed!
