I'm so happy to know this will be in (re)print soon! I'm finishing GGBP's re-release of Sylvia Gower's book about Elizabeth and it is a charming and informative read.

Thanks for sharing this, Julie.

I just ordered it and look forward to getting it this summer sometime. I do love a book package from England... dispatched, not "shipped!"

Yes, I get a little thrill seeing "royal mail" and the stamp, I confess ;)

I really enjoyed The Joy of Snow, I thought it was such a cleverly structured autobiography. Learning about Elizabeth Goudge through the people who influenced her and the places and homes that she loved was so revealing, more revealing than someone’s own perception of themselves and I thought quite an honest and humble way to approach telling her story. I didn’t want it to end. What a wonderful man her father was and I got a kick out of Lucilla being based on her mother. Even though I have a hardback cover of Joy of Snow, I will be investing in the Girls Gone By edition too, I’m really looking forward to reading every one of those fifty letters.

Me too 🙏📖❤️☺️ Can’t wait. Yes, such a humble way to present herself. I can hear here wondering if she will disappoint her readers, but sharing anyway.

I have read it, and have the same edition as you. Am considering getting the new edition..... Would like to attend the service, but don't think I will make the transatlantic trip!

It seems like it would be interesting to read her letters for sure. :) Yes, it is quite the long trip. Perhaps another time.

I also heard about Girls Gone By from Miranda Mills and had already considered ordering The Joy of the Snow. I have now done so and also ordered Sister of Angels and the Sylvia Gower book. Now, having read your last comment, I may need to look again!

Glad you’ll be able to get a copy! I definitely recommend getting the other children’s books as well, if you don’t have them, because when they run out of copies, the prices become quite high on eBay, etc. They have already re-printed the Henrietta books for us, so it is hard to say how long they will be available.

Finding GGB Publishing was one of those wonderful, quirky moments as I discovered a new biography of EG by Sylvia Gower. That in turn lured me to buy the same vintage copy of The Joy of the Snow and then I was hooked! A proper EG fan, wanting to read and discuss her. So, I owe them a great deal and I’ve purchased several of their reprints. I’d love to attend the ceremony but it’s quite a trip from Australia. When is it set for?

She said it would be this year, if at all. Yes, they do all of their books very well!

I have not read Joy of the Snow but I’m looking forward to it!

Any idea when the memorial service might happen?

Clarissa says that she hasn’t had anyone else but me ask about a service, but she hope to do it this year, if at all.
