Elizabeth adored the above illustration, which she called “the view of the far country.” In her will, she left the color plate original to a special reading fan/friend. Father Louis Bouyer loved all of Goudge’s work, saying that he delighted to find her spiritual influence “even in the children’s stories.”1
The Little White Horse is certainly full of symbolism, and nowhere perhaps as significantly as in these chapters with the giving back of Paradise Hill to God.
